Milnthorpe truly is the jewel in the crown of Golden Bay, situated 5 kms from Collingwood township on the Para Para Inlet amongst walking tracks, bush and beach. Our beach house is the perfect place to chill out and enjoy your surroundings. With the bush and beach at your door you have the option to explore, play or simply laze about listening to the Tui, Bell birds and watching the Fantails. The house can be opened up with several pairs of bi-folding doors allowing the inside and outside to merge as one. The master bedroom with en-suite is conveniently positioned at one end of the house creating a sense of privacy and intimacy. The open plan dining/lounge/kitchen area separates the master bedroom from the other two bedrooms (the main bathroom services these bedrooms).
Kayaks are available should you wish to explore the inlet or wander up the waterways leading into the forest. The walk to Collingwood township (approx. 45 minutes) along the beach is always fun.
Milnthorpe's central location in Golden Bay gives you easy access to all that the region has to offer. Farewell Spit and Wharariki beach are always a favourite. Then of course a drive out to Totaranui where you can catch a local water taxi and walk back via the Abel Tasman Track, stopping off at Awaroa Lodge for lunch and a drink is something to be savored
It's always good to keep some time available to check out the local arts and crafts, with studios dotted all over the bay - you will find local painters, potters, jewellers and sculptors many of them characters in there own rights.......
And talking about character, check out the Mussell Inn at Onekakaka for specialty beers, cuisine and entertainment to match!
