Oceanview in Taranaki | House in Opunake

Our house is a renovated older home in an older Opunake neighbourhood. We bought it because the ocean views are stunning and it gets heaps of sun. It's private and a bit of a classic Kiwi bach and modern renovated house. The kitchen is small but clean with a new oven, fridge, dishwasher and garbage disposal. The BBQ is outside and we requaet people cook meat there to keep our kitchen sparkling clean. The rest of the house has been gutted and renovated, fully insulated, warm and dry. There's a big fireplace and 2 leather cosy couches as well as single chairs and reading lights. I've decorated the house with furniture and art from my home in the States. We have a tiled walk in shower with a separate toilet as well as an outside tub and shower. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 oceanside with queen beds and one with 2 single beds. Our views are spectacular as is our huge deck. Our dream is to cover the deck but we're not quite there yet.... The property opens to council land that at times has cows grazing (we have no control over that). The bad side of that is there can be flies in summer but the good side is, they keep the grass down so its a short walk across the council land to biking and walking track as well as Middleton's Bay (otherwise the grass and wild rasberries get super long!). The cows are there periodically throughout the year for 2 weeks max before they move on. The farmer is our friend and this is normal in our part of the world. We do have a cleaner that lives in a separate apartment at the other end of the house (the garage is between the house and apartment). She is very private and only there to help if needed biut she is there. The sunsets are unreal on the West coast and we live for those long summer evenings. We love to share our pace and ask for respectful guests. We are not equipped for younger kids and can be ok with well behaved dogs. Opunake is a quirky surf destination with amazing beaches, lots of coast and a few fantastic cafes, restaurants and second hand stores. We are at the foot of beautiful Mount Taranaki. We often drive our own visitors around the mountain to Stratford and New Plymouth.... stopping at art galleries, op shops, gin factories, beautiful restaurants and garden walking tracks. We love this out of the way place that we call home and we hope you'll come and explore a different part of New Zealand.
