A light and airy romantic hideaway with a few metres walk down a private path to Rocky Bay beach with its iconic boatsheds and safe swimming. The cottage has recently been renovated and has a beautiful new bathroom and kitchen. In a wonderfully secluded setting surrounded by native bush you can relax, and forget the rest of the world. This is the perfect place for a couple wanting to escape, unwind and spend time with each other. The only sounds are the waves lapping on the beach and the birds in the trees. Beautiful by day, sunset and nighttime, the view of the coastline sparkles with the lights of the distant mainland and the stars.
There is no need to leave the cottage. Birds such as kereru, fantails and tuis can be seen from the cottage windows and deck in the abundant pohutakawas, totaras, kowhais and nikau palms and oyster catchers and gulls on the beach. You can watch boats sailing in the bay or people pottering about with boats on the moorings. If you do want to venture further afield you can stroll along the beach and along to the next bay and watch the sunset or venture into nearby Whakanewha Regional Park and explore the native bush and even a waterfall. This is a fabulous boating and fishing location so the cottage has fishing rods for your use. You can sunbathe and swim on the beach.
You can arrive by your own boat as there is a mooring available in the bay; you can come by the car ferry from Half Moon Bay in Auckland and arrive ten minutes away from Beachside Cottage; or you can come by the passenger ferry from Downtown Auckland to Matiatia Bay which is 20 minutes away by car. The Rocky Bay bus meets every ferry; taxis are available or we can arrange for you to be met. The airport is a few minutes away by car so there are glamorous helicopter and seaplane possibilities.
