Early settlers George and Eliza Matthews purchased the site in 1851 and established a commercial plant nursery. In the following years, their son Henry led the business and furthered his career in horticulture and forestry.

The Henry Matthews apartment has big bold openings newly formed through the back wall of the building for afternoon sun. The large, sheltered balcony offers rooftop views of the inner workings of Moray Place and leads the eye towards the Octagon and up to the leafy hills beyond.

Living level has a generous sized open plan lounge and dining, Smart TV, fully equipped kitchen. Bathroom has shower and laundry with tile floor heating.

Bedroom level has two cosy bedrooms each with king bed and a central bathroom with shower, basin, and toilet, tile floor heating and heated towel rail. Remote control black-out blinds on ventilating skylights, privacy shutters to openings above living level. Note that this apartment we cannot split the king bed into two singles, this can only be done in the John Campbell Apartment and the Gaynor Clayton Apartment.
