THE SETTING
Tucked away on Durie Vale Road, the house enjoys a sheltered microclimate and peaceful, park-like surroundings, with abundant birdlife and views over the valley and gardens. A Four Square supermarket is less than 300 metres away at the bottom of the hill, next to the famous Durie Hill Elevator, which whisks you up to the Durie Hill Tower and its lookout. The river, town, i-SITE, cafés, restaurants and the Saturday markets are all within easy walking distance.
OUTDOORS
Have breakfast with the birds or an evening barbecue on the sunny north-facing decks. Laze in the swinging egg chair beneath the bottlebrush, or sink into an armchair with a coffee and the garden view. At night, slip into the spa, watch the stars and listen for a morepork calling across the valley. The front and back sections are fully fenced, with plenty of room to play.
INSIDE
Bright, warm and cosy, this three-bedroom home has been renovated inside and out, with a new kitchen, laundry and bathroom. The original deep bath has been kept for long soaks. There’s new carpet, curtains, furniture and appliances, and original works by some of Whanganui’s best artists are on display. Sleep well in luxury hotel-style cotton sheets, thick mattress toppers, electric blankets and duvets.

GOOD TO KNOW
Plenty of safe on-street parking, monitored by CCTV. The driveway is sloped, and there are steps into the house, so it isn’t suitable for guests with limited mobility. Please see “Other things to note” for details.
GUEST ACCESS
You’ll have the whole three-bedroom house, gardens and spa entirely to yourselves. Keys are provided on arrival. Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by 10am.
PARKING AND ACCESS
Park on the street beside the mailbox or along the road. From there it’s about 10 metres down a sloped driveway (roughly a 15-degree gradient) to the entrance, with two steps into the house. The walk back to your car is uphill. Please see the driveway photo in the listing.
The slope and steps may not suit guests with limited mobility. With enough notice, we may be able to arrange parking on level ground near the entrance. This is subject to availability and must be confirmed with us before booking. The two entrance steps still apply.
